COVID winter vaccination

COVID-19 vaccination is an important part of protecting yourself if you're at increased risk of getting seriously ill from COVID-19.

The COVID-19 vaccines are offered because viruses change and protection fades over time. It's important to top up your protection if you're eligible.

Getting the COVID-19 vaccine can:

  • help reduce your risk of getting severe symptoms
  • help you recover more quickly if you catch COVID-19
  • help reduce your risk of having to go to hospital or dying from COVID-19
  • protect against different types of COVID-19 virus

You may be offered a COVID-19 vaccine if you:

  • are aged 65 or over
  • are pregnant
  • are aged 6 months to 64 years and have an increased risk of getting seriously ill from COVID-19 because of a health condition or treatment
  • live in a care home for older adults
  • are a frontline health or social care worker

How to get the COVID-19 vaccine

If you're eligible for the winter COVID-19 vaccine, you can:

Some people may be able to get vaccinated through a local service, such as a community pharmacy or a care home if they live in a care home.

You do not need to wait for an invitation before booking an appointment.

Our housebound patients will be vaccinated this year by Remedi.

What3Words

We are introducing a new service for patients that live in a remote location. At times this can be difficult for medical health professionals to visit you at home. As part of our improvement to patient care we are raising awareness of the service called ‘what3words’.

What3words is a faster way of finding out where you are when you need it most. It is used by the police, ambulance and fire services so a location can be found quickly. The service has divided the globe into 3m by 3m (9’ by 9’) squares, each square is given 3 unique words to navigate to a precise location. We would like to use this service for the more remote countryside of Bunbury, Tarporley, East and West Cheshire.

This means that a healthcare professional will be able to find where you live when you need it. For example when you call an ambulance, when a GP needs to visit you at home or when a district nurse needs to provide care at your home. If you agree, the what3words can be added to your medical record, this can be accessed by anyone who has permission to see your medical record already, when it is needed. Who can access your record will not be changed in any way by adding the what3words.

For more information please visit:

If you decide you would like to engage with the project, please download the app and update the practice with your three unique words. This can be sent by email to bunbury.medicalcentre@nhs.net. Please stand at the entrance you would like your property to be accessed via, as it will give a very specific location within the property using the link below. The 3 words will be added to your medical record next to your postcode. The medical professional will then use the app to find your location when they next visit.
